So, obviously I'm bad at blogging because I always forget to update! I constantly update my Facebook, but I guess that takes a little less effort than writing a blog =)
Last Friday I went to the doctor and everything was great! I've gained 7 pounds! I'm kind of worried though, since I gained all that weight just within the last month. I'm hoping to slow it down just a bit so that I don't end up gaining 40 pounds by the time Makenna is here. I go back in about 3 weeks, and after that I go back every 2 weeks! Makenna is getting closer and closer to arrival each day!
A couple of nights ago I was laying in bed - playing a video game of course - and all of the sudden Makenna was moving my belly like crazy! I asked John to come see, and he actually stayed around long enough to witness it! He was so excited, and he put his hand on my stomach to feel. Once he felt her move he started talking to my tummy and rubbing it and saying "Aww...Makenna, I love you so much! You're my baby girl!" It was so sweet! I think he's going to be such a wonderful father.
We got approved for the townhome. We move in around March 5th!
We changed my baby shower date to April 2nd. My aunts are throwing it for me and I'm so excited that they get to come down from Bristol to be here!
One unpleasant thing is that I've started to have an acid reflux type thing. I think it's partly due to the pregnancy, and partly due to the fact that I'm always eating acidic foods. It's just so uncomfortable and annoying. But, it'll all be worth it when I get to hold my baby girl!
Johnathan and I registered at Target yesterday! We had so much fun picking out stuff. We went ahead and registered for some things that we had already registered for at Babies-R-Us, but figure that if we get duplicates, then we can always return =)
Mom and I may go look at nursery furniture next week. I'd love to have it in time for us to move!! Which, by the way, there is so much to do before then. I really want to clean up the apartment and organize our stuff to be packed up! But I have a feeling we'll end up just throwing everything in bags and hauling it over to the townhome, spontaneously. I mean, the townhome isn't even a mile away from where we're living now. But it'll be so much better there. It actually feels like a miniature house.
John and I have appointments in the next couple of weeks to apply for Pregnancy Medicaid (to use in addition to our awesome insurance) and WIC. Hopefully we'll qualify! We me not working as much as I'm used to, our income is going to be shrinking very soon. We'll need every kind of break we can get! But, I just have to remember that God's in control, and he'll always provide =)

The perfect place!
So, yesterday Johnathan and I checked out a couple of different townhomes, since our lease is up in March. We looked at three different places. One of them was beautiful inside! It was a little smaller than the apartment we have right now, but we were willing to make it work. That is, until the lady asked us if we had any pets. We have our small dog, Daisy, and our cat, Lily. We told her we have a small dog, and she said "Oh...we don't allow pets. Is that going to be a deal breaker?" Um, YES it's going to be a deal breaker! I wouldn't be able to part with either one of my animals, just to be able to move into a townhome that I might live in for a year!
Then, we called the leasing agent for another set of townhomes. He, somewhat rudely, informed me that he's rented them all out! So...those townhomes we out of the running!
Finally, we went to the office of the townhomes that we've been thinking about moving into for a couple years now. They don't have all the amenities that the others do - like hardwood floors and nice, black appliances - but they are still pretty nice inside. Anyway, after talking to the lady, she told us that they are running a special where you get the first and last months rent-free! This will help us out so much because we're already going to have to pay a prorated rent for the month of March for the apartment we have now. Then, she also told us that since our dog is 2-years old, we won't have to pay the $250 pet fee. And, since our credit scores are good, we don't have to pay the $300-$600 deposit! Oh, and I forgot to mention, this place includes water, trash, and sewage - something we've been having to pay at our apartment now.
So, we went ahead and applied! I am so excited! While we were touring the home, I couldn't help but envision Makenna's room, with her crib and rocking chair. I also envisioned me in the kitchen, fixing a bottle, or making dinner while shes in her little bouncer! I just can't wait to move in so we can start decorating her nursery and getting everything ready for our amazing daughter!
On a different note - I can now tell that Makenna's starting to slowly move up my stomach! Last night I felt a kick well-above my belly button, almost up into my ribs! It was so amazing. Although, I'm not really looking forward to the day that she kicks me IN the ribs! I've also noticed that I've been getting short of breath very easily. It's even sometimes hard for me to breathe when I'm just sitting down. I unluckily have a short torso, so I have a feeling that my third trimester is going to be miserable. But, it'll all be worth it when I get to hold my precious little girl!
Tomorrow I go to the doctor! I'm praying that everything will be okay, and that I haven't gained too much weight! I hoping for maybe 5 pounds...I'm trying to get out of this pregnancy thing without gaining any more than 20 pounds. I think it could happen, since until now I hadn't gained any weight, but actually had lost some. I'll update tomorrow with the number =)

Exhaustion...
I got home today around 1:30 and just collapsed! I felt like I had been hit by a moving truck. Church is just getting more and more exhausting each week. Getting there at 8:30 to set up equipment, practicing songs until almost 10:30, then leading worship during service...not to mention, I'm standing on my feet most of this time. Maybe I'm just not used to standing on my feet very often, since I don't have a physically demanding job (or a job at all right now...), but this pregnancy thing is not cooperating with me on Sundays! I mean, I absolutely LOVE being the Worship Leader, but I'm just not sure how much longer I'll be able to last on stage. Not to mention, I also spent an hour in the grocery store. My mom keeps telling me "just wait until the baby is here...you'll be even more exhausted!" But, I think of no sleep as a different kind of exhaustion. And, hey, at least when Makenna is here I can have a full pot of CAFFIENATED coffee if I want!
So, once I woke up from a two hour nap (yay!), I started thinking...when we move in March, we're going to have no place to store all of the stuff that's in our spare closet, because Makenna will have the spare closet! So, I started pulling stuff out and posting it on eBay. Hopefully, we'll be able to clear some space soon, and make a little extra cash on the side =)
I just can't wait until we move so I can start getting her nursery together. I really hope that the landlord allows us to paint the walls. I just want her room to be a pretty, creamy color, instead of that cheap cream color they paint the walls with. Maybe they won't even notice if we paint anyway!

Blogging Noob
So, I am completely new at this blogging thing, but I thought that I'd give it a shot. Mainly for my daughter-to-be, Makenna, so I can track my pregnancy!
In just a couple days I'll be 21 weeks pregnant! I am so happy that I have made it this far. I secretly worried for the first 12 weeks or so that something would go wrong, but now that we've met the halfway mark I feel very confident that everything will be okay.
Tuesday we found out we are having a girl!! I would have been just as happy if we were having a boy, but I am so excited to know that I can buy pretty little dresses and fix her hair in cute little bows. We're naming our daughter Makenna Grace Parmer.
Now that we're past the worrying and everything, and I'm well into my second trimester, I'm really starting to experience some of the more unpleasant things that go along with pregnancy. My muscles in my stomach hurt from stretching, I'm exhausted all the time, I get out of breath just walking up the stairs to our apartment, and I have an insatiable appetite! I've been eating four, medium sized meals a day - which is a lot compared to my first trimester, when I hardly ate anything. Because of my increased appetite, I'm kind of nervous about going to the doctor Friday and seeing how much I weigh. Until now, I've lost weight (a pound or two) each time I've been to the doctor. But now I feel like I've gained 5 or 6 pounds within the last month! That's actually pretty normal, but I guess I'm just worried that I'll gain too much weight like my mom did with me. 80 pounds worth!
One positive thing about this stage in my pregnancy though, is that I can now feel Makenna kicking from outside of my stomach! It's so neat to be able to put my hand on my belly, and just watch it move! Johnathan still hasn't felt her move yet though. He's not patient enough to sit there, with his hand on my stomach, for more than a full minute. It's okay though, because soon enough my tummy will look like an alien is trying to escape! The kicks only get stronger from here.
One more note for tonight: We went this week to begin registering at Babies-R-Us. When we got there, they gave us this VERY long list of "must-have" items. I totally didn't realize how many things a baby needs! Nor did I realize how expensive things like cribs, strollers, car seats, breast pumps, and even bottles are! I'm really hoping and praying for a miracle, and for God to continue to provide for us, like He always has. With me working side jobs, and John not able to get overtime at work, we're really struggling. I have a paycheck coming at the end of this month - so at least we'll be able to pay February's rent. But after that, it's going to be a very hard.
